Success in the Hispanic Marketplace

Yolanda Macias, Vice President of Business Development and Acquisitions with Universal Music’s video arm joins John today to discuss issues and opportunities within this market segment.

In the 90s, Ms. Macias led DIRECTV through a successful launch into Hispanic programming and marketing. That company became one of the early national telecommunications companies to succeed as a result of her work. She discusses that period, current opportunities, and answers questions sent to us about their specific employment situations in this program.

In that role she led the development, coordination, launch and growth of DIRECTV PARA TODOS programming, designed to serve the US Latino community.

Additionally, she spent 4 years with The Walt Disney Company, and has been named among the Top 50 Women in Business. Glamour En Español featured Macías as a success story in business and she has served on the Board of Directors for the T. Howard Foundation, which promotes the employment of minorities in the satellite industry. Yolanda has 2 children and resides in Los Angeles.
